How to Design Your Custom Flag

How to Design Your Custom Flag

Design Guidelines

Follow these essential guidelines to ensure your custom flag turns out exactly how you envisioned:

  • Canvas Size: Files must be 5700 x 9150 pixels (61" x 38").
  • Resolution: Design at a minimum of 150 DPI, but 300 DPI is recommended for sharper, high-quality prints.
  • Color Profile: Use the sRGB color profile to ensure vibrant and accurate colors.
  • Safe Print Area: Keep important elements (like text, logos, or key graphics) inside the safe area to avoid cropping during printing.

Using Built-In Design Tools

Our application includes easy-to-use tools to help you create a custom flag:

  • Graphics: Explore a library of images and icons to enhance your design.
  • Custom Fonts: Add text, slogans, or names with a variety of font styles and color options.
  • Backgrounds: If you want your flag to have a colored or patterned background (e.g., black), you must upload an image that fills the entire canvas. Flags will default to a white background if no background image is provided.

Tips for Uploading Your Own Images

If you’re uploading your own images or graphics, follow these tips to ensure the best print quality:

  • We accept the following file types: AI, PSD, PDF, PNG, JPG.
  • Image Quality: Upload high-resolution files with at least 5700 x 9150 pixels to avoid pixelation.
  • Background Colors: To avoid a white background, upload an image or design that fills the entire canvas with your desired color or pattern.
  • Avoid Enlarging Small Images: Low-resolution photos (like single iPhone images) will appear blurry if stretched to fit the flag.
  • Creative Use of Photos:
    • Combine smaller photos into a collage.
    • Use smaller images alongside text, graphics, or other design elements.

Recommended Tools for Designing Offline

If you’d prefer to create your design offline, here are some tools to help you prepare a print-ready file:

  • Photopea (Free): A browser-based tool for creating files at the correct dimensions.
  • Adobe Photoshop: The industry standard for professional image editing and design.
  • Adobe Illustrator: A powerful desktop application for advanced design work.

Important Notes

Before submitting your design, keep these key points in mind:

  • Color Variations: Slight differences in color may occur due to printing processes or file settings.
  • White Background Default: Flags will print with a white background if no image or design fills the entire canvas.
  • Pixelation Risk: Enlarging low-resolution images to fit the canvas may result in blurry or pixelated prints.
  • Alignment: While we strive for precise placement, slight variations in alignment may occur. These are typically minor and unlikely to be noticeable.
  • Print Area: Any elements outside the safe print area may not appear on the final product.
  • Final Sale: Custom flags are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
